Deshpande after the match revealed his plan and also shared a WhatsApp message he received from Michael Hussey before the game.

Topsy turvy ride
Speaking after the match, Deshpande revealed his plans to get rid of the two deadliest batters in powerplays this season.
“It was topsy turvy. I got smacked for a six on the first ball, then a single, and then a six in the third ball. I believe I need to be brave if I bowl in the powerplay in such a high-scoring tournament. Knowing Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma, they are doing so well in the powerplay. We needed their wickets badly. I stayed patient with my plans and it paid dividends,” he said.

A special message
Deshpande also revealed a message Michael Hussey sent him before the game.
“Travis Head is someone who can dismantle bowlers in the powerplay so his wicket was very important. I always back myself and both the bowling coach tells me to be brave. I got a WhatsApp message from Michael Hussey this afternoon. He told me ‘Be you and you can’t fail’. So it was a great motivation for me before this match and it was a great win today,” he said.
