“Pitch, rain, 46 & Virat Kohli”: Fans debate over what was most disappointing in India’s collapse

From Virat Kohli departing for a duck to defending the Indian team after a collapse in IND vs NZ 1st Test, fans debated about the most disappointing moment from Day 2 in Bengaluru

Indian cricket team fans found horror unfold in front of their eyes as the batting order collapsed like a pack of cards on Day 2 of IND vs NZ 2nd Test. Rohit Sharma’s decision to bat first after winning the toss back fired as the New Zealand seamers got all assistance from the surface to bundle the hosts for just 46 runs. Fans at the M Chinnaswamy stadium had mixed reactions when Insidesport asked them about the most disappointing moment from the day.

What disappointed fans the most on Day 2 of IND vs NZ Test?

Fans picked Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Sarfaraz Khan, hometown boy KL Rahul’s dismissals as some of the players who disappointed them the most. A section of fans chose to defend the India cricket team, pointing out that the inclement weather and the pitch being under the covers constantly went in favour of New Zealand. One particular fan was so sad about India getting bowled out for 46 that he apparently “cried” on the spot.

New Zealand ended the day 2 on 180/3, with an overall lead of 134. Devon Conway led the scoring for the visitors, and slammed a quickfire 91. Coming to the bowling and the fielding department, the team wasn’t good either. None of the pacers, Bumrah or Siraj managed to bag a wicket while the three spinners etched out a wicket each. And to top it all, the fielding was equally poor with multiple catch drops and run-out mixups.

Shockingly, 5 of India’s batters departed for ducks. Virat Kohli, Sarfaraz Khan, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin all failed to score a run. Only Rishabh Pant and Yashasvi Jaiswal managed to get double digit scores in the 1st innings.
