Phil Salt blitzkrieg helps KKR get off to strong start in powerplay against misfiring RCB

Salt hammered every bowler that came his way, with Lockie Ferguson being hit for 28 runs in a single over.

Phil Salt just cannot stop hitting! The Kolkata Knight Riders opener on Sunday played a blitzkrieg of 48 runs of 14 balls to help KKR get off to ta tremendous start against RCB at the Eden Gardens Stadium on Sunday.

Only one thought on Salt’s mind

With Sunil Narine struggling to get going in the heat in the mid-day game, Salt took the onus on himself to make sure KKR had the runs in powerplay. Although his innings started with a lucky leading-edge in the first over off Mohammed Siraj which went for a six, he did not have to look back since.

Ferguson facing Salt’s wrath

He hammered every bowler that came his way including Mohammed Siraj, Yash Dayal and Lockie Ferguson. Ferguson came out the worst, with the fast bowler conceding 28 runs in a single over with Salt hitting him for 2 sixes and 4 boundaries in the over.

RCB relieved

However, much to RCB‘s relief, Salt mistimed a ball ball off Mohammed Siraj and deep mid wicket in the 4th over, with Rajat Patidar taking a comfortable catch.

Salt maintained his fantastic form in IPL 2024 with that innings. He is proving to be a tough prospect for bowlers, with none of them being able to get a plan going for Salt. KKR would hope Salt’s form continues, as their opening partnership has provided them with a platform in most matches.
