‘Phenomenal display of character’: Did Gambhir praise RCB or make a sarcastic comment?

One pf the most followed rivalries of IPL 2024 has been that of Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir. But duo have also shown great camaraderie as well.

As RCB lost vs KKR by just one run, it was a massive heartbreak for the Faf du Plessis & co. Perhaps it was even worse for Virat Kohli, who was on a song before being dismissed for 18 from seven deliveries. Plus, a few umpiring errors, including the controversial Kohli dismissal didn’t help. But one must give credit to RCB for putting up a solid show during the chase.

Will Jacks and Rajat Patidar smashed whirlwind fifties, and Karn Sharma came up with a cameo in the last over. Du Plessis commended the team for showing a lot of character too. But one post by KKR mentor Gautam Gambhir left everyone confused.

Gautam Gambhir Makes Cryptic Post

“Phenomenal display of character by RCB today,” Gambhir wrote on X after the match. While he could be genuinely praising the team for their solid show, but an earlier statement by him, makes one think otherwise. He had told Star Sports, “One team which I wanted to beat every time and probably in my dreams was RCB.

More on Kohli

“Probably the second-most high-profile team and flamboyant team. The owner and the squad with Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. Not won anything, still thought they won everything. Can’t take that kind of an attitude.”

Virat Kohli & Gautam Gambhir History

Last year, when Gambhir was associated with the Lucknow Super Giants, he had a standoff with Kohli after a match. But since then, the duo have met multiple times this year, and looked like sharing a friendly vibe. In fact, Kohli too had clarified

Kohli himself had cleared the air around the controversy at a recent event. “People are disappointed because I hugged Naveen Ul Haq and then Gauti pa hugged me. Tumhara masala khatam ho gaya toh oo oo kar rahe ho. (‘Masala’ got over for you),” he had said.
