The Asian Cricket Council has a change in leadership, as PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi took over from SLC’s Shammi Silva on Thursday. The move has come a few months before the Asia Cup 2025 in September.

“I am deeply honoured to assume the presidency of the Asian Cricket Council,” said Mohsin Naqvi. “Asia remains the heartbeat of world cricket, and I am committed to working with all member boards to accelerate the game’s growth and global influence. Together, we will unlock new opportunities, foster greater collaboration, and take Asian cricket to unprecedented heights.
“I also extend my sincere thanks to the outgoing ACC President for his leadership and contributions to the ACC during his tenure. It has been a privilege to serve as President of the Asian Cricket Council. The steadfast commitment of our member boards working together has been pivotal in elevating ACC’s stature across the region.”
Asia Cup 2025 Would be on ACC Agenda
Meanwhile, as per various reports, even though India is to host the Asia Cup this year, but it would be held in UAE and Sri Lanka only, with the ongoing rift between India and Pakistan. It was decided before the Champions Trophy, that both countries will not visit each other’s countries for tournaments, and will play in hybrid model only.
The last edition of the Asia Cup was also held in hybrid model, where India played all their matches in Sri Lanka only. Earlier, BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla had become the executive board member of the ACC, filling in Jay Shah’s spot, who became the head of the ICC.
