The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided that they would use Kookaburra balls in the home Test matches for the ICC World Test Championship. On the other hand, Dukes ball will be used in the domestic matches for senior red ball games. All the home matches for Test matches in Pakistan will be using the Kookaburra balls.
The Pakistan Cricket Team will be playing two Test matches against Bangladesh. On the other hand, England is slated to travel to Pakistan for three Test matches followed by 2 Test matches against West Indies.
PCB set to use Kookaburra balls in home Test matches
The question remains – can Pakistan choose the balls according to their own wishes? The answer to this is relatively clear. According to the ICC rules, the home side has the absolute control to choose the balls that they want to use.
On the other hand, the domestic season in Pakistan is slated to start next month. And for the senior red ball domestic cricket matches, Dukes ball would be used. Apart from the Test matches, the PCB will be also be using Kookaburra balls for both ODI and T20I matches.
The use of Kookaburra balls will ensure the usage of proper standards across all formats of the game. Since, Kookaburra is the most standardized ball that is used in ICC events, thus PCB will be looking to ensure proper standards are maintained in the game.
