PCB hand Corbin Bosch one-year ban for ditching ignored PSL 10, picking IPL 2025

Corbin Bosch said in a statement, as per the PCB, that he accepted a fine and a one-year ban for pulling out from PSL 10

The Pakistan Cricket Board has banned South African pacer Corbin Bosch for one year from the Pakistan Super League. The board’s “strict action” comes after the bowler decided to ditch PSL 10 for IPL 2025. PSL 10, which will commence from April 11 onwards, will overlap with the word’s most popular and cash-rich T20 league – the IPL.

Bosch banned from PSL

Bosch was a Diamond pick for PSL side Peshawar Zalmi. However, he ditched PSL after being roped in as an injury replacement for the Mumbai Indians. The move ledto a back-and-forth exchange of legal notices between the PCB and the pacer. However, the South African had made it pretty clear what his priorities were.

To the loyal fans of Peshawar Zalmi, I am truly sorry for letting you down. I take full responsibility for my actions, and accept the consequences, including the penalty fine and the one-year ban from the PSL,” Bosch was quoted as per a statement on PCB’s website.

Peshawar Zalmi and Mumbai Indians offered him a similar amount of money: Rs 50-75 lakh by PSL and Rs 75 lakh by IPL. But Bosch picked the latter, as he thinks that by joining MI, he can not just open up his career to playing in the IPL but also other franchises that are owned by MI.

PCB tries to take leaf out of BCCI’s book

By banning Bosch, PCB is trying to follow the footsteps of the BCCI. The latter had handed a two-year ban to England’s Harry Brook for withdrawing from the tournament in the last minute.

Pakistan claim that it was a strategic call to ensure PSL 10 overlaps with IPL 2025. The reason? To ensure that a lot of players would prefer the league in Pakistan instead. However that has not been the case.

After all, PSL 10 is filled with IPL 2025 discards. In fact, the PSL draft was also held after the IPL mega auction. This was to ensure that players who went unsold in IPL auction could play in the PSL.
