The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) recently celebrated four legendary cricketers by welcoming Inzamam-ul-Haq, Misbah-ul-Haq, Mushtaq Mohammad, and Saeed Anwar into its Hall of Fame. This honour was started in 2021 to give a tribute to the greats of Pakistan cricket. With these four, the Hall of Fame now has 14 members. Mohsin Naqvi, the PCB chairman, congratulated these cricket icons on their well-deserved recognition. He said this honour acknowledges their incredible contributions to both Pakistani and global cricket.

Player highlights

  • Mushtaq Mohammad: He is remembered as one of Pakistan’s best captains, admired for his clever leadership and ability to inspire his team.
  • Inzamam-ul-Haq: An important batter, Inzamam’s incredible talent and match-winning skills have left a lasting impact on cricket.
  • Misbah-ul-Haq: He took over as captain during tough times and led Pakistan to the top of the Test rankings, achieving a historic series win in the Caribbean.
  • Saeed Anwar: Known for his elegance and classical batting technique, Anwar changed the game for openers and excelled against the world’s best bowlers.

Inzamam-ul-Haq’s stellar career

Inzamam was a major figure in Pakistan cricket, playing crucial roles throughout his career. He was part of the 1992 World Cup-winning team and scored 8,830 runs in Tests and 11,739 runs in ODIs. Inzamam’s induction also marks the end of the PCB’s investigation into a potential conflict of interest during his time as chief selector in 2023, with no issues found against him.

Saeed Anwar was known for his elegant batting style and consistent performance at the top order. He scored 4,052 runs in Tests and 8,824 runs in ODIs. His incredible innings of 194 against India in 1997 was the highest individual score in ODIs at that time.

Misbah-ul-Haq’s leadership

Misbah-ul-Haq is one of Pakistan’s most successful Test captains. He took charge after a notorious scandal in 2010 and led the team to the No. 1 ICC Test ranking in 2016.

Mushtaq Mohammad started Test cricket at just 15 years old in 1959, holding the record for the youngest debutant until 1996. He scored his first Test century at 17 and played 57 Tests and 10 ODIs. He also led Pakistan to their first Test victory in Australia.
