Following reservations by the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) chief, Mohsin Naqvi, the ICC has decided to change the Pakistan cricket team’s hotel. According to Geo News, Naqvi wasn’t happy that his team had to travel a long distance from their hotel to get to the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.
To cater to the second-biggest cricket nation in the world, the ICC has decided to shift their hotel to just five minutes away from the Nassau Stadium. The Babar Azam-led side is scheduled to play two matches in New York, India on June 9 and Canada on June 11. Earlier, it was reported that the Pakistan cricket team was staying in a hotel that was 90 minutes away from the stadium.
Pakistan isn’t the first team to express reservations about the facilities, with South Africa and Sri Lanka unhappy with their hotels in New York as well. Meanwhile, the India cricket team was already booked at a hotel that was just 10 minutes away from Nassau Stadium.
Of course, a big reason why Pakistan was given a hotel, which was far away, was to ensure their safety following a terror threat for the IND vs PAK match. Given the history of terror attacks in the USA, the authorities are taking the threats very seriously and therefore could have stayed far away for their own safety.
