As per AFP, Naqvi met Azam and the selectors to discuss the team selection for the upcoming series against New Zealand.

The PCB said Naqvi “held a meeting with the selection committee to talk about the team’s selection ahead of the New Zealand T20I series”.

The meeting was also attended by captain Azam,” the PCB added without mentioning any separate meeting with Afridi.

Further, sources told AFP that a picture released by PCB showed ex-skipper Shaheen Afridi shaking hands with Mohsin Naqvi. The report claims that this action removes any confusion over Afridi’s denial to the earlier statement made by the PCB.

Babar Azam returns as Pakistan skipper

PCB announced the reappointment of Babar Azam as the captain of the national team for white-ball formats (ODIs and T20Is).

“Following unanimous recommendation from the PCB’s selection committee, Chairman PCB Mohsin Naqvi has appointed Babar Azam as white-ball (ODI and T20I) captain of the Pakistan men’s cricket team,” PCB said.
