PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi, it seems, is leaving no stone unturned that Pakistan hosts the Champions Trophy 2025. In a new statement, he maintained, that he is not even considering the possibility of a venue shift. After the PSL final, at a press conference Naqvi said, that he held talks with the BCCI secretary Jay Shah during the ICC meetings in Dubai last week.
“Yes we spoke for a while and it was cordial but it would be unwise to divulge details of what was discussed,” he said. Asked whether India would refuse to come to Pakistan for the event, he said, “I am not even thinking on those lines we are confident we will host the Champions Trophy on schedule in Pakistan.”
He went on to add, that the renovations in three key stadiums will happen in Pakistan. “Even as I speak plans have been drawn up and work will begin soon on these three stadiums to give the fans the best experience of watching the matches at the venues,” he said.
Meanwhile, India has shown reluctance to travel to Pakistan since the 2008 terror blasts. The last time India toured Pakistan was in 2008, during the Asia Cup in the nation. India had also refused to travel to Pakistan during last year’s Asia Cup as well, and all of India’s matches were hosted by Sri Lanka.
