Rajasthan Royals youngster Riyan Parag is all geared for IPL 2021 phase 2 in UAE. In a recent interview, Parag said that it’s a big IPL season for him. After failing to make an impact with the bat, he will now look to change his fortunes in the UAE leg of IPL 2021. Riyan feels that he possesses the talent and mental strength to make it big. “I think talent is very overrated. I know I am not the most talented guy, I know I am not the most stylish batsman in the circuit. But I think I have the mental strength. I think that’s what counts. MS Dhoni is not the most technically sound batsman, but he is the greatest finisher in the world. So it’s all about the mental strength in this game. It’s 75 per cent mental and 25 per cent skills,” he told Khaleej Times.

Parag is gutted to have missed out on an opportunity to play for India as a second-string team India recently toured Sri Lanka for the limited-overs series.

“I think that’s what you need to go up a notch and make it to that senior level and not just make it to the senior level, but stay there. For me, it’s not about playing for India. For me, it’s just about playing for India and winning matches for India and staying at that level for a long time. So I think this IPL season is a big season for me. And even the domestic season coming up,” he added.

Riyan Parag in IPL 2021

He had managed just 78 runs and one wicket in his first 7 matches for RR. He was roped in by Rajasthan Royals in 2019 but he is yet to announce his arrival on the bigger stage as IPL. He has managed just 324 runs and 3 wickets in 26 matches, including a lone half-century. The odds are not in his favour and thus he needs to fire ahead of mega auctions 2022 to stay a part of the Indian Premier League.

Meanwhile, Riyan Parag has also started to work a lot on his bowling to contribute to the team in every way possible.

“I know I can be a genuine bowler who can give you three overs, four overs every game,” he further stated.

  • Riyan Parag recently missed out of the India squad for the Sri Lanka tour
  • He is yet to deliver with the bat for RR in middle-order
  • His last fifty came way back in 2019 when he became the youngest to score a half-century in 2019.
  • The 19-year-old needs to prove his mettle to be in the scheme of things heading into mega auction 2022.
  • In order to raise his game, Parag has also begun to work on his bowling.
