Talking about the game, It was all Gujarat Titans from the start. After putting Punjab Kings to bat, the bowlers ruled the roost as they restricted Punjab to 153/8. Matthew Short, Jitesh Sharma were the key contributors for Punjab with the bat. For Gujarat, Mohit Sharma led the charge with two wickets. Rashid Khan, Johua Little, Mohammed Shami, and Alzarri Joseph scalped one wicket each.
In response, Gujarat Titans got off to a flying start with Wriddhiman Saha taking on the pacers. However, Saha’s innings was ended by Kagiso Rabada, who claimed his 100thwicket in IPL But, Shubman Gill continued the onslaught and scored a brilliant half-century.
While Gujarat completed a dominant win, skipper Hardik Pandya was not happy with the way batter s played in middle overs.
“To be very honest, I would not appreciate the game to go this close from the situation we were in. There was definitely a lot for us to learn from this game. That’s the beauty of sports, it’s never over till it’s over. So we will go back to the drawing board. I think we can take a couple more risks in the middle overs. It will be a tough pill to swallow, taking it this close. Not a big fan of taking the game to the last over”, Pandya said in the post-match presentation.
