Rahul Tewatia played a sensational cameo to guide Gujarat Titans to a three-wicket win against Punjab Kings. With this win, Shubman Gill and co have eight points to their name so far in IPL 2024. Punjab Kings will surely be disappointed not to gain a victory in their final game at Mullanpur, Mohali. Sai Kishore sizzled with the ball for GT in the first innings as PBKS batting order collapsed like a pack of cards. Prabhsimran was the only PBKS batter to put up a fight with the bat. Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharshan played decent knocks with the bat but it was Tewatia who stole the spotlight as he aced the role of the finisher.
Tewatia finishes off in style
Rahul Tewatia scores a boundary down the leg side to seal the win for Titans. GT beat PBKS by 3 wickets.
Rashid Khan goes
Rashid Khan is caught out by Rossow as GT need just 1 more run to win the game
Harshal Patel cleans up Shahrukh Khan

Tewatia to the rescue
And now, Tewatia comes to the crease and looks to stay positive, He gets a few boundaries and GT are confident again. Th score has moved to 118/5 in 17 overs. 25 off 18 needed.
Harshal gets a wicket
Now senior bowler in the team, Harshal Patel has a wicket. Slowly, things are looking bleak for GT as Omarzai is out for 13.
Slow moving
There seems to be no sense of urgency from Gujarat at the moment. Sudarshan is taking his own sweet time, and Curran castles him. GT 97/4.
Twist in the tale
Livingstone is coming up with a special spell here. After Gill, he removes David Miller, as the batsman is bowled. It is 78/3 after 12 overs.
Out
PBKS have another one. But it looks like a little late now. But still, the score has moved to 68/2 in 10 overs as Livingstone removes Gill.
Nothing happening
GT has decided to take it easy in the chase, while Punjab is struggling to get wickets. It is 65/1 after 9 overs.
Nothing happening

Stars of the day
Spinner reign supreme for GT. And now they are 44/1 in 6 overs.
Wicket
Arshdeep picks Saha here. The pressure of not getting the boundaries was getting to GT and it is 25/1 after 3.4 overs.
Easy chase?
This looks like, would be an easy one for the GT. They have started out slowly though at 12/0 in 2 overs.
PBKS set 143-run target
Punjab Kings have been bowled out for 142 runs, with the last batter being run-out in the final delivery. GT need 143 runs to win the contest.
PBKS are nine wickets down
Another one bites the dust as Harshal Patel walks back for a duck.
Brar departs after fireworks
Sai Kishore puts the breaks on Brar’s knock after being smashed for back-to-back boundaries. PBKS are 139/8
Sai Kishore on fire!
PBKS are crumbling like a pack of cards with GT bowlers maintaining firm control over the game. PBKS are 100/7
No fireworks from Ashutosh today!
Ashutosh Sharma attempts a big hit but fails as Sai Kishore strikes again. PBKS are 92/6
Jitesh Sharma departs
PBKS are five wickets down as Jitesh Sharma departs. Kings are 86/5
Jaffa
Noor has another one, it is 78/4.
Two more
In a span of just two overs, Punjab lose two more wickets here. This time Sam Curran departs for 20 from 19. PBKS 67/3 after 8 overs.
Out
And there you go. The first one departs for Punjab. Prabhsimran is out and Rossouw has come to the middle. It is 59/1 in 6.3 overs.
One wonders
With Ashutosh Sharma and Shashank Singh doing so well for their teams, the question is, if they should get a batting promotion. It is 42/0 in 4 overs.
21 runs
In the very next over, Sandeep Warrier gives away 21 runs. Prabhsimran Singh punishes the bowler with three fours and a six. PBKS 23/0 in 2 overs.
Omarzai starts
An excellent over to start with for the comeback man Omrzai. He gives away only two runs here. PBKS 2-0 after 1 over.
Match time
We are moments away from the start of the second encounter on Sunday. How many can we expect from PBKS tonight?

Curran says
We are gonna bat first. Third time we have used this pitch, excited to put pressure on the Gujarat bowlers first up and put a good score on the board. Any team can beat anyone. We know if we turn up with right plans and attitude we can win. It’s about our overseas players taking more responsibility and helping the Indian players. Shikhar is still not alright, same team.
Gill says
I would have bowled first anyway, looks like it’s the same wicket as the last match here. Every game becomes important for us. We have had some niggles (on not being able to settle into a combination). This game Omarzai is back, he had a niggle earlier. He comes in place of Spencer. If we can keep them to around 170 we will be happy.
Toss
PBKS have won the toss and opted to bat first. Once again Ashutosh Sharma will have a big job up his sleeve.
Injury Update
Shikhar Dhawan is still injured and wont be available for the GT match. Let’s ee if Punjab can secure a win here.
