PBKS vs RCB, IPL 2021: PBKS shock RCB with great display, KL Rahul and newbie Harpreet Brar star in 34-run victory– Punjab Kings registered a comprehensive 34-run victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore with KL Rahul and Harpreet Brar starring in the victory. Rahul’s unbeaten 91, Chris Gayle’s 24-ball 46 helped Punjab Kings set a 180-run target for Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday.
Earlier, Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli won the toss and opted to bowl first against KL Rahul’s Punjab Kings. KL Rahul’s Punjab Kings, in search of winning momentum, take on Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday. PBKS are in search of their best combination while RCB are aiming to continue winning momentum and take the top spot in Points Table.

Virat Kohli’s RCB made one change to the Playing XI that won against DC. Washington Sundar made way for Shahbaz Ahmed. As for Punjab, they have made three changes with Mayank Agarwal, Arshdeep Singh and Moises Henriques making way. Agarwal has a niggle and misses out due to that.
Punjab were off to a slow start with Daniel sams proving a difficult bowler to take on. However, from the other end, Kyle Jamieson removed youngster Prabhshimron Singh early. However, Chris Gayle brought his explosive form back, hitting Kyle Jamieson for five fours in one over. Gayle and Rahul brought up their 50-run stand to steady Punjab innings.
Punjab were dealt a blow when Chris Gayle departed after 24-ball 46 while Nicholas Pooran once again disappointed departing on 4th duck. Soon, Punjab lost two more wickets with Shahrukh Khan and Deepak Hooda both departing in a short span of time. In the end, Rahul’s unbeaten 91 helped Punjab Kings post 179/5 in 20 overs.
Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal seemingly gave RCB a good start. But Riley Meredith with a fine delivery cleaned up Padikkal’s stumps after the youngster hit him for a six. Then on, Kohli and Rajat Patidar anchored the innings in the tough chase.
When Kohli tried to take on Punjab bowlers to speed up scoring, Harpreet Brar struck twice in one over to derail RCB. First, he cleaned up Kohli’s wicket and then sent Glenn Maxwell back before scalping another big wicket in AB de Villiers.
RCB kept on losing wickets with Ravi Bishnoi striking, taking two wickets in one over. In the end, Harshal Patel began a blitzkrieg with 13-ball 31 but it was too late as RCB suffered a 34-run defeat.

“The momentum with us and we were hitting the ball well. Once we got into that rhythm we had to keep going as long as we could. We knew that the new batsman would take some time,” Devdutt Padikkal said.
It will be interesting to see if Nicholas Pooran continues to find a place in Punjab’s middle-order. He has scored only 28 runs in five innings and his lack of runs has been a concern. As for Punjab Kings skipper KL Rahul, fans will want him to repeat his unbeaten 132-run knock that he got last year.
