“Back to back games and not much time to think about it. No Shikhar, that’s why I am here but he’s recovering and should be back soon. Great opportunity for the others to put their hand and we are going with the same team. Lot of close games for us. We would have bowled as well, that is the trend but hopefully we do well. Have a good powerplay and then take it from there,” Sam Curran said at the toss.

Shikhar Dhawan remains one of the prolific batters this season despite missing out on the last couple of games due to injury. In his absence, Punjab Kings have been severely weakened. While the bowlers rallied around to beat Lucknow Super Giants, their frailties were exposed against Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Matthew Short has been susceptible to spin despite a bright start and could make way for the in-form Sikandar Raza. Raza scored a fine half-century but made way for Liam Livingstone in the last game. PBKS could rectify the error in their ways and recall the Zimbabwean in the mix. Bhanuka Rajapaksa, if fit, also remains in contention.

Another returnee could be Kagiso Rabada, who was surprisingly omitted in favour of Nathan Ellis last time out. The Proteas pacer will return at the Wankhede on a track that should assist the pacers. Rahul Chahar, Harpreet Brar and Arshdeep Singh form an Indian bowling core. Rishi Dhawan could get a look in on Saturday given the nature of the surface.
