PBKS have suffered a major setback in IPL 2025, as Kiwi pacer Lockie Ferguson is set to miss a major part of the tournament. The same was confirmed by the bowling coach of the team, James Hopes. “Ferguson is out indefinitely, and us getting him back by the end of the tournament is a very low percentage. I think he’s done a real decent injury to himself,” said Hopes, before their clash against KKR.
No More Lockie Ferguson for PBKS?
It was in the last match against SRH, that Lockie Ferguson suffered a knee/hip injury. Meanwhile, the 33-year-old had picked up five wickets in four matches for his team, who have been good this year. Having said that, this injury might not impact the team much, since they have quite a few resources to replace the injured player.
Resources Galore for Shreyas Iyer
There is Indian pacer Vijaykumar Vyshak, then Xavier Bartlett, and even Afghanistan’s Azmatullah Omarzai. Yash Thakur, another pacer has been the preferred choice for Shreyas Iyer right now. Earlier in the IPL 2025, another New Zealand player, Glenn Phillips was ruled out of the competition, after suffering a — in what looked like a groin injury.
Till now PBKS have won three matches out of five played, and are tipped to make it to the playoffs at least, this year. Some of their players have been in great nick, including the skipper Shreyas Iyer.
