Pay in Dollars to Buy Tickets, SL plays masterstroke to improve Lanka’s economy

Ahead of the release of the Asia Cup 2023 Schedule, Sri Lanka has planned that fans to buy tickets will have to pay in dollars

Asia Cup 2023 and its unfolding drama continues. While the Asia Cup 2023 Schedule is set to be released in the coming days, a unique move has been planned for the spectators. Fans who will travel to Sri Lanka to watch the games will have to buy tickets in dollars. The tournament will follow a hybrid model with 4 matches in Pakistan and the remaining 9 games in Sri Lanka.

The crucial part of the Asia Cup is that the fans and the spectators will have to buy tickets in dollars. This not only will be a feasible option but also help in boosting the downtrodden Sri Lankan economy.

Last year the economic situation in the Emerald Isles was at an all-time low with people taking to the streets to protest. But the country received some economic boost after Sri Lanka went on to win the Asia Cup 2022 campaign after beating Pakistan in the finals.

Ending months of speculation around the Asia Cup, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) on June 15 announced that the tournament will be staged in a hybrid model with four games in Pakistan and nine in Sri Lanka from August 31 to September 17.

“The tournament will be hosted in a hybrid model with four matches being held in Pakistan, and the remaining nine matches being played in Sri Lanka,” said the ACC in a statement The 2023 edition will feature two groups, with two teams from each group qualifying for the Super Four stage. The top two teams from the Super Four stage will then face off in the final.

In Pakistan, the four games will be held in Lahore and Multan in Pakistan’s bid to reduce logistic problems. “Multan would get some share from Lahore which will be the main venue in Pakistan. We have tried hard to get a fifth match and even are still negotiating on it. Since the decision was taken by the previous PCB administration, it is quite a tough task at this point of time,” a source within the PCB told GeoNews.
