Pat Cummins’s genius move sees Aussies dispatch defiant Rishabh Pant in IND vs AUS Test

Rishabh Pant went on to play a defiant innings of 37 runs before being dispatched by Pat Cummins in Perth Test

Rishabh Pant was proving to be a big obstacle. But then Australia Cricket Team skipper Pat Cummins unleashed a piece of genius to dismiss the ace southpaw. The Aussie skipper set Rishabh Pant perfectly to scalp the all-important wicket. As for the Indian batter, Pant notched a well-defiant knock of 37 runs after the top-order collapse.

Rishabh Pant went on to take the attack to the opposition. He and Nitish Kumar Reddy stitched a strong innings of 48 runs which ultimately helped India manage to reach 150 runs on the board.

Rishabh Pant dismissal

Rishabh Pant and Nitish Kumar Reddy looked well comfortable and settled on the crease. Albeit the initial top order crumbled, the middle order duo looked poised to help India reach at least the 200-run mark. But Pat Cummins soon realized the danger and was desperate to dispatch the southpaw at the earliest.

Thus in a bid to dismiss the dangerman, Pat Cummins opted for an aggressive strategy. He consistently went on to hit the deck hard moving the ball away from the batter. Rishabh Pant was clever enough to leave the deliveries. Gradually, Cummins shifted the ball towards the middle of the wicket, still angling away from the batter.

And finally, on the dismissal delivery, he pitched it a bit closer to the batter. The ball naturally, didn’t bounce that much and was enough for Rishabh Pant to be confused. The ball went on to hit the blade of the bat before taking a wicked deflection and a catch was taken in the slips.
