Despite completing his trophy cabinet with the addition of Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Pat Cummins has no plans of stepping down as Australia’s captain. The all-rounder is likely to miss the upcoming AUS vs SL series due to the birth of his second child. While Steve Smith is expected to return as the skipper for the series, Cummins clearly has no idea of passing on the baton in the immediate future.
Pat Cummins wants to stay on as Australia skipper
Speaking after Australia’s victory at the SCG, Cummins noted that captaincy was his biggest driver in Test cricket. He admitted that he wouldn’t mind continuing to lead the side in the future for as long as he can.
“First of all, I absolutely love what I do. That’s the biggest driver in wanting to play Test cricket and work with this team and support staff. I absolutely love everything about it; it’s that much fun. If I can keep doing it for a while, even better,” Cummins said.
