Parthiv Patel pleased with Mohammed Shami’s three-wicket haul, claims “confidence will be boosted”

Mohammed Shami made his return for Team India in the IND vs ENG 3rd T20I at Rajkot

It was a good return for Mohammed Shami in the IND vs ENG 4th T20I. Former India wicket-keeper Parthiv Patel has praised Shami for his good return. Patel has claimed that Shami will now get some good confidence as he will turn his attention to the 50-over format.

Mohammed Shami made his International comeback in Rajkot in the third T20I. But the Bengal pacer went wicketless. He was rested in Pune while making a return at Wankhede. And in Mumbai, he shone brightly. He scalped 3 crucial wickets in 2.3 overs as India hammered England by 150 runs.

Happy for Shami – Parthiv Patel

Parthiv Patel believes that Shami’s return to getting wickets is a huge boost both for the team and the player himself. He claims that Shami will get the confidence as he will now focus on the IND vs ENG ODI series and the much more important ICC Champions Trophy.

“He (Shami) got his first wickets after 444 days without international cricket. He came and didn’t have a good first-over, but you need a bit of luck, obviously. To be out of international cricket for so long, it’s not easy, and especially when you’re coming in on a very flat wicket, where the opposition are going to go after you because you are chasing 247,” Parthiv Patel said.

Shami has been out of action for more than a year. He made his comeback into the national team for this series. And now the attention turns to the ODIs. Shami bagging wickets will help him get into the rhythm. India will play 3 ODI matches before flying off to Dubai for the ICC event.

“Good that Shami got a couple of wickets. Just to get a couple of wickets will give Shami that confidence for going into 50-over cricket,” Parthiv concluded.
