Pakistan’s Quaid-e-Azam Trophy matches moved after Multan records AQI of 2135

Quaid-e-Azam: The matches scheduled to be played in Punjab have been moved to different locations, due to severe pollution.

Smog in Pakistan continues to hamper their day-to-day life, especially in their Punjab province. Sporting activities are also affected due to it, as the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy matches — the Indian equivalent of Ranji Trophy — have been moved out of Punjab, where in some cities, the AQI has gone beyond 2000.

That means, the Group C fourth round matches have been moved to three different locations — Haripur, Swabi, and Mirpur. As per a report in Cricket Pakistan, the match between Karachi Region Blues and Dera Murad Jamali will be played in Mirpur. Sialkot Region and Lahore Region Blues match will be held in Swabi. Lastly, the match between Quetta Region and FATA will be played in Haripur.

Other matches in Multan and Sheikhupura have been moved to other locations as well. Meanwhile, Pakistan has seen a massive surge in air pollution in the last few month, where few of their cities are the most polluted in the world. In Punjab alone, 10 districts have been closed from Nov 8 to 17, as per ARY News.

As of Friday, Multan recorded an AQI of 2135, while Lahore’s air quality stood at 676.
