Pakistan’s direct qualification to 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup in jeopardy after loss to England

The team captained by Nida Dar were bowled out for 124 runs while chasing a target of 303 runs in the 3rd and final ODI, losing the series 0-2.

The Pakistan Women’s cricket team have shot themselves on the foot when they lost against England in the third and final ODI of the three match series. Courtesy of the heavy defeat, the team’s direct qualification to the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 has become uncertain.

Heavy defeat

The team captained by Nida Dar were bowled out for 124 runs while chasing a target of 303 runs. The only noteworthy performances from Pakistan came from Aliya Riaz (36), and Muneeba Ali (47). The loss resulted in England winning the series 2-0 and Pakistan unable to notch up any points during their last series of the Championship.

Direct qualification to Women’s WC 2025 in jeopardy?

After having played all their matches in the Championship, Pakistan currently have 17 points to their name. On the other hand, both Sri Lanka and West Indies have 14 points to their name. They are scheduled to play a 3-match ODI Championship matches next month.

Any team between the two that win two games out of the three in the series will reach 18 points, putting Pakistan’s chances of direct qualification in Dire Straights.

England reign supreme

Sciver-Brunt stood out in the 3rd ODI for England, hitting a century to ensure England reached a huge target. Pakistan were hapless, and now stands to concede their place in the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup.
