Pakistan team arrives in New Zealand sans Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, play 1st T20I on Sunday

New Zealand vs Pakistan: The visitors will begin the five-match T20I series under the leadership of new captain, Salman Ali Agha.

The Pakistan team, after a poor showing in the Champions Trophy 2025, would be looking to turn over a new leaf with their limited-overs series vs New Zealand, starting March 16. Now, the Salman Ali Agha-led T20I side has reached NZ on Thursday, ahead of the five-match series. Post the T20Is, both team will also play 3 ODIs, which conclude on April 5.

Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan Axed?

Meanwhile, as per a report in GeoSuper.tv, the team will will start their training from Friday, at 1 PM local time. It is important to note, that both Pakistan and New Zealand have made significant changes from the their Champions Trophy squads. In fact, many believe that Pakistan veteran batsmen, Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam were axed from the side after their poor returns in the Champions Trophy.

NZ Stars to Miss Out Due to IPL 2025

On the other hand, The Kiwi side will be led by Michael Bracewell, who was a star performer in CT 2025. Some of their star players, regular skipper Mitchell Santner, Glenn Phillips, would miss out due to the upcoming IPL 2025.
