Pakistan seek ‘Golden Boy’ Arshad Nadeem’s inspiration, to invite star to cricket team’s dressing room

Pakistan head coach Jason Gillespie extended an open invitation to gold medalist Arshad Nadeem to visit the team's dressing room

The Pakistan cricket team is planning to invite Paris Olympics gold medalist Arshad Nadeem to their dressing room ahead of PAK vs BAN Tests. Nadeem ended Pakistan’s gold medal drought at the Olympics with a monstrous throw in the finals of the javelin throw event. As per Cricket Pakistan, Test team coach Jason Gillespie extended an open invitation to the Olympian to visit the dressing room and inspire Babar Azam and co.

Arshad Nadeem to visit Pakistan dressing room

We would love to invite Arshad Nadeem to the dressing room as well. I saw all the Shaheens cheering him on during the Olympics. Having him visit and share his gold medal with the team would be a fantastic boost, especially with the Olympic spirit still in the air. It was a wonderful moment, and we extend an open invitation for him to visit the dressing room,” Gillespie said.

Does Nadeem’s success put pressure on Pakistan cricket?

Pakistan skipper Shan Masood reflected on if Arshad Nadeem’s success at Paris put pressure on the under-performing cricket team. Masood said that it was more of a privilege than pressure to be able to represent the country at the highest level. He further said that the team should use Arshad Nadeem’s success as an inspiration to be motivated to do better.

We should feel extremely proud and grateful to represent our country. Arshad Nadeem’s success motivates us to seize our opportunity to do something good for Pakistan,” Shan Masood said.

Arshad Nadeem’s golden touch in Paris Olympics

The ace javelin thrower shattered the 16-year-old Olympic record with a monstrous throw of 92.97 meters.

Not many would have thought Arshad Nadeem could land a gold medal at the Paris Olympics, let alone create a new Olympic record. He was struggling to meet his ends and had just one javelin to practice with.

However, with support from the Pakistan cricket fraternity, especially PSL franchise Multan Sultans, he fought back. He bagged a silver medal in the World Championships and gold in the Commonwealth Games to warm up for the Olympics.
