It is pertinent to point out that Pakistan are yet to find a full-time white ball coach, with just months left for Champions Trophy 2025. The PCB has informed that it will initiate the process to find a full-time coach and hopes to find a suitable candidate before the marquee tournament.

During this tenure, Aqib will continue to serve as a senior member of the men’s National Selection Committee, and will be assigned additional responsibilities following the conclusion of the eight-team tournament,” the PCB said.

Aqib Javed shot to fame in PAK vs ENG Test series where he made some bold calls as a part of the selection committee. His decision to drop Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah midway through the series reaped rewards as Pakistan went on to end their winless streak at home. After starting the series with a loss, PCB decided to give more autonomy to the selectors while curtailing the powers of captain and coach.

Pakistan will next take on Zimbabwe in a ODI abd T20I series from November 24 onwards.
