The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reportedly plans to convince BCCI’s Jay Shah for an IND vs PAK T20I series at a neutral venue in 2025. The development comes amid India’s unwillingness to travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025 and the hybrid model that is set to be proposed by the ICC during the annual conference in Colombo.
India vs Pakistan T20I series in 2025?
As per Cricket Pakistan, PCB chief Moshin Naqvi is expected to discuss the matter with BCCI secretary Jay Shah. The reports states that the matches for the IND vs PAK T20I series could be scheduled on the days when both sides are free during CT 2025. The PCB officials, prior to their departure to Sri Lanka, agreed to invite India in 2025 for a series.
Pakistan’s love-hate attitude towards India ensues
India last visited Pakistan in 2008 for the Asia Cup following which geopolitical tensions between the two countries has forced India to boycott travelling to the neighbouring nation. The Men’s Asia Cup 2023 saw a similar situation where India were unwilling to travel to Pakistan and hence an hybrid model was adopted.
Pakistan’s threats to India amid CT 2025 debate
While Pakistan has threated to skip the 2026 World Cup and has demanded a written proof from the BCCI, it remains to be seen what decision the ICC would take with respect to Champions Trophy 2025.
CT 2025 will be held between February and March, with three Pakistan cities set to host the marquee event. India and Pakistan, for nearly a decade now, have met only at ICC events and haven’t locked horns in a bilateral series.
