Pakistan Cricket Team to get their new head coach by April end

The upcoming announcement promises a fresh start for Pakistan Cricket. With a structured selection process and a wider applicant pool, the PCB appears committed to finding the right leadership to guide the national team forward.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is gearing up for a coaching shake-up, with plans to announce new head coaches for both red-ball and white-ball formats by the end of April. This move signifies a shift towards a more structured approach to coaching appointments.

Big names in mix for Pakistan Cricket Team

The PCB has confirmed receiving applications from established figures like South Africa’s Gary Kirsten and Australia’s Jason Gillespie. These two coaches boast extensive experience and are considered frontrunners for the Pakistan Cricket Team head coach roles.

New faces join Race

However, the race isn’t limited to these big names. The PCB has received applications from other “reputed coaches” as well as per PTI. This wider pool of candidates suggests the PCB is open to exploring fresh perspectives and leadership styles.

PCB moving away from Short-Term Solutions

Previously, the PCB relied on consultancy or interim coaches. This time, Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has emphasized “due process” for long-term appointments. This signifies a commitment to stability and long-term planning within the coaching staff.

Transparency and Open Applications

Further emphasizing transparency, the PCB is only considering applicants who formally applied for the positions. Even established coaches like Kirsten and Gillespie had to submit applications to be officially considered.

Final Decision Nears for Pakistan Cricket Team

With a mix of veteran coaches and new applicants, the PCB has a challenging yet exciting decision to make. They are keeping the names of candidates confidential until a final decision is reached by the end of the month.

More about Pakistan Cricket Team:

Assistant Coach Applications Open

The coaching revamp extends beyond head coaches. The application deadline for assistant coach positions is April 20th. This includes Azhar Mahmood, who currently holds the head coach position for the New Zealand series on a consultancy basis. He too will need to formally apply if he wishes to be considered for a permanent role.

The upcoming announcement promises a fresh start for Pakistan Cricket. With a structured selection process and a wider applicant pool, the PCB appears committed to finding the right leadership to guide the national team forward.
