The Pakistan Cricket Team has been handed an injury concern. Leg spinner Abrar Ahmed is all set to miss the Pakistan vs Australia 1st Test owing to a knee injury. It is unclear whether the leggie will miss the other 2 Test matches. The Men in Green have taken Sajid Khan has Abrar’s backup. Pakistan is set to clash with Australia for the PAK vs AUS 1st Test on 14th December.
Abrar had a discomfort in his right knee which has now ultimately forced him to miss the game. Abrar Ahmed sustained the injury on his right knee during Pakistan’s practice/warmup match against Australia Prime Minister XI. The spinner will continue with his recovery in Perth and a late fitness call will be taken by the team ahead of the Boxing Day Test.
“During an assessment by the medical team, a provisional diagnosis was made – justifying an MRI scan, which was done on the same day,” a PCB release stated. “Abrar will undergo an intervention in Perth on Monday, after which conservative rehabilitation under the supervision of the team’s medical staff, will continue his road to recovery.
“He has not been ruled out of the Test series yet, but keeping the player’s wellbeing in mind for this and future tours, further assessment before the second Test will ascertain his availability on this tour,” the release added.
Pakistan and Australia are slated to face each other in 3 Test matches in this upcoming Pakistan Tour of Australia series.
