Former Pakistan cricketer Rashid Latif launched a scathing attack on the sorry state of affairs in the men’s cricket team. Babar Azam and co. have been on the downside ever since the ODI World Cup and no attempts of the PCB to revamp the setup have helped the team get back to winning ways. Latif claimed that the Pakistan cricket team desperately needed professional help to sort out its issues.
Pakistan cricket currently in ICU: Latif
In a video that went viral on social media, Rashid Latif claims that Pakistan cricket is currently in the ICU and needs the urgent help of a professional doctor. He took a jibe at the Pakistan Cricket Board, noting that they needed professionals to run things, both financially and physically. He admitted that the team was facing multiple hurdles, both on and off the field.
“Pakistan cricket is currently in the ICU. They will need a professional doctor. They need technically sound professionals to run things, both physically and financially. Trainers and many other things are required. You can see there are many problems, whether it’s on the field or off the field,” Rashid Latif said.

Pakistan’s performance and captaincy
This year, Pakistan’s performance has been extremely poor. They’ve just won one series across all formats; that too came against Ireland. They played 2 T20I series against New Zealand (losing 4-1 once and drawing to their ‘F’ side 2-2), and against England, they suffered a 2-0 defeat in T20Is (two matches were washed off).
The worst was the loss to the USA at the T20 World Cup and their subsequent elimination from the group stage. Reports have suggested that Mohammad Rizwan could become the all-format captain soon after Bangladesh beat Pakistan 2-0 earlier in the month. But nothing has been confirmed yet.
