T20 World Cup- Pakistan beat India: Pakistan had to wait long to break the jinx against India in the World Cup. But it was worth the wait as Babar Azam & Co humiliated Virat Kohli’s Team India in a 10-wicket victory in the T20 World Cup on Sunday. Expectedly, Pakistani fans were overjoyed and hit the streets on Sunday night as Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan chased down 152 without losing a wicket. Pakistan PM and World Cup-winning captain Imran Khan too was delighted with the manner of the victory.

From firecrackers to beating drums, Pakistan cricket overtook the streets of Lahore, Islamabad. They burst firecrackers across the country. Some celebrated blowing car horns at midnight while many danced in front of the giant screens that fans put up to watch the match.

Pakistan PM Imran Khan sent out a tweet congratulating Babar Azam & Co on the win. He was watching the game from Saudi Arabia where he went on an official visit.

“Congratulations to the Pakistan Team & esp to Babar Azam who led from the front, as well as to the brilliant performances of Rizwan & Shaheen Afridi. The nation is proud of you all,” he said.

In Dubai, the Pakistani players received a warm welcome at the team hotel from their fans.

Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar too was overjoyed with the win especially after the thrashing he had in the 2003 World Cup when Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag hammered 50 runs inside the first four overs. In a tweet, he shared a video with fans taking the streets to celebrate the victory in Dubai.

“We are a civilised nation and we will not say anything bad. Well done India.. you have done wonderfully well but not enough to beat the mightiest Babar and Rizwan.”

T20 World Cup- Pakistan beat India: The victory was set up by left-arm pacer Shaheen Afridi who removed Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul in the first two overs while Hasan Ali sent Suryakumar Yadav back inside the powerplay.

Even though Virat Kohli fought back with a fine half-century apart from Rishabh Pant’s 39 but it was not enough. Mohammad Rizwan and skipper Babar Azam hammered Indian bowlers to reach 152 target in 18 overs.

Left-arm fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi set up victory with figures of 3/31 that restricted India to 151/7 despite a valiant 57 from captain Virat Kohli.

T20 World Cup- Pakistan beat India: The Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Ramiz Raja also tweeted that it was a proud moment for all Pakistanis.

“Alhamdolilla…It’s the first one, the most magnificent one but remember journey has just begun.. such a proud moment for all Pakistanis and thank you boys for providing us this moment to cherish,” PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja tweeted.

T20 World Cup- Pakistan beat India: Many Pakistani fans celebrated with flags waving from the windows of their cars.

“It is not just the fact that we have beaten India for the first time in a World Cup after so many attempts but the way we did it that is something to cherish,” one of the students who was celebrating the victory told PTI.
