Most Consective 50’s International Cricket: Babar Azam Special Record_ Babar on the cusp of record –

  • Babar will be presented with a golden chance to score a seventh consecutive fifty in ODIs and ninth consecutive overall fifty in international cricket.
  • His tally of innings content scores of 196, 67, 55, 57, 114, 105*, 66, 103 and 77.
  • Babar has scored six consecutive fifties which also included three consecutive hundreds before he was dismissed on 77 in the second ODI.
  • A fifty on Sunday will see him go level with great Javed Miandad, who also scored nine consecutive fifties, all coming in the ODIs.

All fifties on Pakistan soil- Interestingly all of Babar’s nine consecutive fifties have come on the home territory of Pakistan. This includes matches across three different cities – Multan, Karachi and Lahore. Lahore has been a happy hunting ground for Babar while he has exploded at times on other venues.

  • All these nine fifty plus scores have come against either West Indies or Australia
  • The list of scores contains three hundreds for Babar.

Unfortunate Babar- The Pakistan skipper could consider himself unfortunate having missed out on a record of four consecutive hundreds in the ODIs. Babar stood a chance to go level with Kumar Sangakkara for the most consecutive hundreds at four, but having been dismissed on 77 he missed out.

Although he might have missed out on record, Babar still contributed to the team’s cause and will be looking forward to end the series on high with yet another big score.

If he does manage to do it, he will break the record of Javed Miandad, another of Pakistan’s former captain.

Imam-ul-Haq ‘Partner in Crime’ –

  • Babar’s tally of six consecutive fifties in ODIs is also held by his current teammate Imam-ul-Haq.
  • Imam-ul-Haq also has six consecutive fifties and will go toe-to-toe to match both Javed and Babar for the record fifties.
  • As things stand they have already contributed to Pakistan’s series win as the hosts won the second ODI by 120 runs, having already won the first ODI by five wickets.
  • Another perfect performance form the super duo should see the ‘Men in Green’ seal the series with a whitewash.
