Chasing 253 in a 42-over game, Sri Lanka at one point were cruising thanks to Kusal Mendis’ 91. However, the 19th over changed the tide as Shaheen Afridi picked two back-to-back wickets. Needing 8 runs in 6 balls, chaos erupted as Sri Lanka were left to score 6 runs in 2 balls. However, cool as ice Asalanka hit a four and then picked a couple in next two balls to secure a famous win. Iftikhar Ahmed was the pick of the bowler for Pakistan with 3 wickets. Meanwhile Shaheen Afridi and Shadab Khan picked 2 and 1 wickets, respectively.
Notably, India have already secured their spot in the Asia Cup 2023 Final with wins over Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the Super Fours. It was a virtual semi-final between Pakistan and Sri Lanka and the Dasun Shanaka side come out victorious in a thrilling manner. This was also Sri Lanka’s first ODI win over Pakistan since 2015.
