Pakistan have won both their games to go top of Group 2, and are likely to stay there and qualify for the semi-finals barring any major upsets later in the competition. Having lost to Pakistan, the India vs New Zealand clash becomes crucial for both teams hopes of making the knockouts.

  • If India beat New Zealand, India will end up on eight points and will progress to the semis along with Pakistan.
  • If New Zealand beat India, Pakistan and New Zealand will make it to the semis, with the latter accumulating eight points from their games.

Should India lose to New Zealand, Virat Kohli and Co. will need to win their remaining games and hope that the rest of the teams pull off an upset over New Zealand. The Men in Blue will also have Afghanistan to contend with, who kick-started their campaign with a huge 130-run win. Mohammad Nabi and Co’s win over Scotland gives them a sizeable advantage in terms of net run-rate and a win over them will also be crucial for India.
