Joe Root is the only player from ‘Fab Four’ to join unique list

Joe Root played as a specialist batsman for England and occasionally rolled his arm. He is considered to be part of ‘Fab Four’ which included Virat Kohli, Steve Smith and Kane Williamson.

However, he is slowly beginning to pull himself apart from the rest of the three by claiming the all-rounder status. Root is the only one amongst the four to reach the 10,000 runs mark and also pick 50 wickets in his Test career. The best bowling figure of his test career is 5/8 which he picked against India in Ahmedabad last month.

The Road to  15,00o runs and 150 wickets

Joe Root is currently the 12th-highest run-getter in Test format. He has scored over 10,000 runs at an average of 49.66 including 28 centuries and 55 half-centuries. He is only the second Englishman to get past the 10,000-run mark in Tests after former skipper Alastair Cook (12,474). He is just 31 and still has at least 6-7 years of cricket left in him.

With the age by his side, Root stands the chance of breaking the 15,00 run-mark and and also reach 150 wickets mark. If he continues to pile on runs he is on teh course of  beating Sachin Tendulkar’s tally of runs.
