Pakistan: Chasing 200 to win, Pakistan openers put on a show for the packed crowd in Karachi to help the hosts cantered to a victory. Rizwan was particularly quick off the blocks finding boundaries at will as Babar played his way in dropping anchor. 59 came off the powerplay as England struggled to contain runs with the field up.
Rizwan got his 50 in 30 deliveries, dispelling notions of his poor strike rate. Babar soon followed him to the landmark taking 39 balls. But things could still go out of hands had the two been dismissed. But once the century partnership was up, Babar switched gears with Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid both taken for plenty of runs.
- While Babar and Rizwan both maintained a healthy strike rate on a flat and dead Karachi pitch, the middle-order did not get to bat even for a ball.
- Babar-Rizwan did put a bandaid on the would temporarily.
- But on difficult surfaces, there won’t be 200-run partnership in a T20 match.
- Hence, the middle-order needs to be on the crease and be tested before the T20 World Cup.
- Pakistan’s bowling too lacked edge without Shaheen Afridi.
- Haris Rauf was the only bowler who did well. The bowling needs to be looked at too.

For England, though, the injuries are now a concern. Barring Liam Dawson and Sam Curran, none of England’s experienced bowlers fared well. David Willey went at 12.60. Luke Wood, Adil Rashid and Moeen Ali were pretty average.
“It was a very good score. It was a good wicket in the end. We were bowling okay, but the momentum changed when I bowled my over and gave 21 runs. We played really well with the bat. Duckett’s innings gave us a good platform,” Moeen Ali said after the match.
