Haider Ali scored 18 runs off of 14 balls in the 6th T20I vs England. The middle-order batter was replaced after feeling lightheaded in the changing room. Pakistan ultimately suffered a T20 defeat.

“Haider Ali is feeling unwell. He has a viral illness and is being taken to the hospital for further check-ups. He will stay overnight in the hospital,” said the PCB in a statement.

The squad will relax on Saturday and there are no scheduled cricketing activities, the PCB also confirmed.

The second player who has apparently become ill is Haider. On September 29, the PCB reported that Naseem Shah had a COVID-19 infection just hours after the board had confirmed that he had a pneumonia diagnosis.

The key fast bowler for the Pakistani team was hospitalised on September 28. After being released from the hospital, he subsequently joined the national team at a nearby hotel.

PAK vs ENG: Phil Salt levels the series

Phil Salt’s blazing 88 not out at a strike rate of 214.63 delivered a crucial eight-wicket win for England in the sixth match of the seven-T20I series against Pakistan on Friday. The visitors won with 33 balls to spare. This was England’s first win after two consecutive defeats.

It levels the series 3-3 and effectively turns Sunday’s encounter into a final. The two teams will then depart Down Under to finalise their preparations for the all-important ICC Men’s T20 World Cup – which commences on 16 October.
