PAK vs ENG 2nd Test: Joe Root uses Leach’s head to shine ball

Opting to bat first in the contest, Pakistan last two early wickets on Day 1, with opener Abdullah Shafique and skipper Shan Masood departing early in the innings. Both the batters were Jack Leach’s victims on a pitch that is being reused after a run fest in the 1st Test. Root’s attempts to shine the ball using Leach’s head came post-lunch where England are on the hunt for more wickets.

Pakistan entered the contest having gone down 1-0 in the series against England. Shan Masood and co. made big changes to their playing XI, dropping big names like Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah for the 2nd and 3rd Tests. The side created history in Multan earlier when they became the first side in Test cricket history to lose a game after posting a total of 550+ runs in the 1st innings.

Pakistan are desperate to end their winless streak at home, which currently stands at 11. England managed a remarkable turnaround in the 1st Test after outclassing the hosts with their aggressive batting led by Joe Root and Harry Brook. Yet, Pakistan decided to re-use the same pitch for the 2nd Test, casting aspersions on their concerning strategy.
