In the first innings, Pakistan scored a total of 274 runs, with Saim Ayub, Shan Masood, and Salman Agha each scoring half-centuries. Bangladesh’s innings started poorly, with players getting out cheaply. Openers Shadman Islam and Zakir Hasan scored 10 and 1 run, respectively. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto scored 4, Mominul Haque 1, and Mushfiqur Rahim managed only 3 runs. Even the experienced Shakib Al Hasan couldn’t make a difference, scoring just 2 runs. The team lost 6 wickets for just 26 runs.

After the sixth wicket fell, Liton Das and Mehidy Hasan Miraz took control of the innings. Both batters performed brilliantly, building a 165-run partnership that helped Bangladesh recover. The partnership ended when Khurram Shahzad took the wicket of Mehidy Hasan Miraz. The seventh wicket fell on the score of 171.

This is the second-highest seventh-wicket partnership for Bangladesh. Earlier, in Rawalpindi, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Mushfiqur Rahim had added 196 runs against Pakistan in the first Test on 21 August 2024.
