PAK vs AUS: Waqar Younis signals crucial flaw in Pakistan Cricket Team after 1st Test loss

PAK vs AUS: Waqar Younis questions Pakistan's lack of pace in 1st Test and signals out crucial flaw

Pakistan Cricket Team stumbled to a humiliating 360 run defeat against Australia in the PAK vs AUS 1st Test at Perth. Former Pakistan cricketer Waqar Younis has criticised his sides lack of pace. Younis went on to claim that Pakistani pacers rarely broke the 140 kmph mark in the first Test.

Waqar Younis has questioned Pakistan’s pacers Shaheen Shah Afridi, Khurram Shahzad, Aamer Jamal and Faheem Ashraf for their slow spells. He however sympathised how the pacers troubled the Aussie batters in the second innings when the pitch broke down and cracks started to appear on the pitch.

“Another thing that I’m worried about is that always when we come to Australia, one thing that excites is the fast bowling and this time around I’m not seeing that. I’m seeing medium-pacers or slow-medium-pacers, allrounders, there’s no real pace. People used to come and watch Pakistan pace bowlers really running in hard and bowling 150 clicks [kph], and that’s what I’m not seeing there,” Younis said on ESPN’s Around The Wicket show.

Continuing to question the lack of pace he went on to claim that fans love to see the raw and sheer pace. Younis further went on to claim that this is a big worry for the team.

“That’s my worry and issue because I have not seen it at the domestic level also. There are a few injured, I can understand, but in the past you would always see a battery of fast bowlers that they could always bring on, but unfortunately that is not there and I’m really worried about that,” he added.

After being humbled in the first Test match in Perth, Pakistan will be looking to comeback strongly in the second Test in Melbourne.
