Gritty Pakistan end Day 2 on a decent note

Pakistan got off to a solid start in their first innings as openers Imam-ul-Haq and Abdullah Shafique stitched together a gritty 50+ run partnership. Nathan Lyon provided Australia with the breakthrough as he claimed his 497th Test wicket by dismissing Shafique. Newly-appointed Pakistan Test skipper Shan Masood, who came into bat at number 3, then steadied the ship for the side along with Imam but was soon dismissed by Starc.

Resuming their innings on Day 2, Australia’s Mitchell Marsh and Alex Carey continued to build a strong partnership that lasted over 50 runs. Shortly after play commenced after lunch, Aamir Jamal swooped down on the remainder of the Australian tailenders, wrapping up the innings.

Travis Head was Aamir Jamal’s first victim as the pacer got rid of him for 40 runs. The mighty David Warner was next, who looked to be in sublime form having smashed a blistering ton. What followed was Jamal wreaking havoc on Australia’s tailenders, finishing the game shortly after lunch.

The fiery pacer was the standout among the Shan Masood-led bowling line-up, finishing his spell with figures of 6/111. Australia were bowled out for 487 runs shortly after lunch on Day 2 in Perth.
