Opting to bat after winning the toss, Mohammad Nabi’s decision took a serious hit as Pakistan rattled Afghanistan with early wickets. However, Nabi partnered with Gulbadin Naib for a half-century stand to help Afghanistan set a competitive 148-run target for Pakistan.
Pakistan started well with ball, taking four wickets inside the powerplay. While Najibullah Zadran and Karim Janat found their feet, they could not survive long. They were reduced to 76/6 in 13 overs. However, it was Mohammad Nabi (35) and Gulbadin Naib (35 off 25) who brought Afghanistan back into the game with a 71-run stand. It was Hasan Ali in the 18th over that went horribly wrong. He leaked 21 runs as Afghanistan clawed their way back. In the end, they posted 147/6. Imad Wasim and Shaheen Afridi were the most successful bowlers with economic spells.
