India’s record setting win against Sri Lanka on this day in 2023
Run maestro and an unbeaten Virat Kohli was the star of the night for India, with a 166-run masterclass. His innings was studded with 13 boundaries and 8 sixes. He wasn’t the only one to get a century though. Young Shubman Gill played an outstanding 116-run knock at a strike rate of above 110. While skipper Rohit Sharma only managed to get 42 runs, it was Gill and Kohli who ensured that India posted a gigantic total of 390 runs.
In response Sri Lanka were bundled out for just 73 runs, with Mohammad Siraj leading the pack of Indian bowlers. Siraj weaved his ‘Miyan Magic’ yet again as he grabbed four wickets while Shami and Kuldeep Yadav took two scalps each to send SL packing in a humiliating fashion.
