In the IND vs ENG 2nd Test in 2021, Rohit Sharma smashed 161 runs off 231 balls to put India in a commanding situation after Day 1 at the Chepauk Stadium.
Rohit Sharma scored his seventh Test century in the match which included 18 fours and two sixes. Ajinkya Rahane helped Rohit with 67 runs to build a fourth-wicket partnership of 162 at Chepauk Stadium.
“I am not going to rate any of my knocks because every knock comes under different kind of pressure and this came under different circumstances. I am not the person to rate any of my knocks. Little disappointed to get out like that but happy that the team is in a good position,” Rohit said after playing the knock.
India won by 317 runs
With the help of Rohit Sharma’s outstanding knock and Rahane’s impactful innings, India won the match by a huge margin of 317 runs on Day 4.
India posted 329 runs in their first innings. Australia, in response, bundled out at 134 runs with Ashwin taking the most 5 wickets in the first innings.
India controlled the match by posting 286 runs in the second innings with the help of Virat Kohli’s 62 off 149 balls. England surrounded with 164 runs in the second innings to face a defeat of 317 runs.
