Rahane scored a brilliant 112 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in the second Test, contributing significantly to the team’s success.

With India struggling with their batting line-up in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, Rahane’s cenutry was a special inniings which guided the team to a win. Ajinkya Rahane’s match winning knock

Rahane displayed immense grit and character as the stand-in captain, stepping up with a memorable century on Day 2 of the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Rahane reached his hundred off 195 balls, proving to the world that he still has plenty of fire left in him. The series was viewed as a crucial one for Rahane, who had been struggling to score big runs in recent times. However, his performance at the MCG had everything one could hope for, as he combined aggression with caution in perfect harmony, leading India to a strong position.

“For me whenever I get runs and when we win. I think for me that is something really special. Winning the Test match and winning the series is the priority for me rather than my own achievements,” Rahane said after his century.

After his historic performance, Rahane struggled to maintain his form, which led to his exclusion from the team. He has not returned to the Indian squad since then, and a comeback appears unlikely at this stage. However, he will always be the captain to clinch India vs Australia series in 2020-21.
