However, the Men in Blue sprung up a surprise with Sanju Samson opening with Rohit Sharma during the IND vs BAN warm-up match. As Samson walked out with the captain, the fans were left surprised.

However, Samson‘s new role didn’t have as much impact as he would have expected. The wicket-keeper batter went out for only 1 run in 6 balls after being dismissed by Shoriful Islam.
Sanju Samson had his greatest IPL season ever, scoring 531 runs and ranking fifth on the list of most run-scorers. The Kerala batsman demonstrated why he was the ideal choice for India’s T20 World Cup selection with excellent and consistent performances that helped RR dominate most of the IPL 2024.
