Indian women’s cricket team skipper Harmanpreet Kaur’s white-ball form has been big concern for the team management and fans.
The 34-year-old didn’t hit the double digit in seven white-ball innings during India’s home series against England and Australia.
The Indian skipper scored 92 runs in her last eight T20I innings and as many in her last seven ODI innings.
With Women’s T20 World Cup just 7 months away, Kaur would be under some pressure to perform in the upcoming Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024.
Former Indian women’s captain Anjum Chopra, in an exclusive chat with Insidesport, said that there will be ‘expectations’ from the skipper.
“Harmanpreet Kaur is skipper of defending champions Mumbai Indians and Indian team so expectations will be from her to score runs for her side. And it is an opportunity for her because she didn’t have a good series against England and Australia. So, she would also want to perform in the tournament [WPL] and get back in form”, Anjum Chopra said.
When asked if the management should look for a new captain if Team India fails to win another ICC trophy, Anjum said that the management first needs to look at the resources.
“We need to understand what are the resources that we are playing with and what are the resources that are at our disposal. You don’t win by removing someone, and not win by appointing someone”, Chopra further added.
