India have a huge headache to deal with ahead of IND vs AUS 2nd Test and it is quite literally the head that is the problem. After missing the opening game of Border-Gavaskar Trophy owing to personal reasons, Rohit Sharma returned to action in the warm-up game against Prime Minister’s XI. However, he failed to fire in the pink ball practice match, sparking a concern for India at the top of the order.

Rohit Sharma managed to score just three runs before he was sent packing in the warm-up game. The Hitman did not essay his usual role as an opener but instead came out to bat at number four. While all batters above Rohit Sharma managed to taste much-needed success in a pink ball game, Sharma managed to hang on for just 11 deliveries before being dismissed by Charlie Anderson. And not to forget, Rohit Sharma’s form has been miserable over the last couple of months, evident in the series against Bangladesh and New Zealand at home.

Pairing up with an aggressive Yashasvi Jaiswal on the other end, the seasoned Karnataka cricketer sizzled with a gritty & fighting 26-run knock in the 1st innings in Perth and followed by a 77-run knock in the 2nd innings. Rohit Sharma’s return to the playing XI means that KL Rahul will be demoted back to the middle-order.
However, given the Indian skipper’s form, it makes more sense for the team to allow KL Rahul to carry on as an opener.
