Indian skipper Rohit Sharma opined that only trophies should matter for a players and termed all the numbers and milestones as ‘overrated’.
Talking to Dinesh Karthik on JioCinema ahead of IND vs ENG 1st Test, Rohit emphasised that a player should not take the field with a mindset of completing personal milestones.
“Don’t go on the field looking for personal milestones. Play fearless, play well. For me that’s the important, numbers and Centuries are overrated”, Rohit said on JioCinema.
Rohit also recalled the World Cup 2019 heartbreak and said that he scored 5 centuries in the tournament but the team still lost.

“I scored 5 centuries in 2019 WC but still we lost, only the trophy should matter for us”, the Indian skipper added.
Notably, Rohit Sharma was hailed as ‘selfless’ by many cricket pundits during India’s World Cup 2023 campaign where the Indian skipper provided his side flying start in games.
