Delhi Capitals received their biggest news, the return of a fit Rishabh Pant. However, BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla has refused to comment on Pant’s chances for a spot in the T20 World Cup squad. Earlier in the day, the BCCI gave the green signal that Rishabh Pant is fit to bat and keep wickets for DC in IPL 2024.
After 14 month ordeal from his near fatal accident, Rishabh Pant will leading the charge for DC. It remains a doubt if he will be in contention for the Team India squad for T20 World Cup. Rajiv Shukla further claimed Pant’s inclusion in the team will be the decision of the BCCI Selection Committee.
“Rishabh Pant has been declared fit for batting and wicketkeeping. He was injured in an accident. BCCI provided all possible help to him and now he is coming back on the ground. We hope he will perform very well in the future…The selectors will take a call on the World Cup team, as of now he is fit for IPP,” Rajiv Shukla told ANI.
Can Rishabh Pant make it to the India squad for the ICC T20 World Cup? Of course he can. But for that he needs to deliver. The BCCI didn’t rush Pant into getting back into the field. And now after 14 months that he is fit, he will be in action.
If Rishabh Pant goes on to have a storming IPL 2024 stint, he will automatically be in the radar of the Selection Committee. Though the BCCI top brass remained tight lipped on the issue. It can be understood that given India needs a batting wicketkeeper for T20Is, Pant can be the ideal fit for the Men in Blue.
